Digital Workforce and Atostek archive legacy data from Lifecare, Webstar, and Mediatri -systems for 2M-IT’s clients

Press release 27.5.2025

2M-IT’s clients, the Wellbeing Services Counties of Ostrobothnia and Southwest Finland, have procured a service provided by Digital Workforce and Atostek to migrate their legacy data into Kela’s Kanta archive. The common objective of both projects is to archive the data as quickly as possible, enabling the counties to eliminate the costs associated with their legacy systems.

Ostrobothnia’s migration project involves extracting data from five databases of the decommissioned Lifecare -system, while at Southwest Finland, data is being collected from 16 databases across the decommissioned Lifecare, Webstar, and Mediatri -systems. The data is converted into the required format and transferred to both Kela’s Kanta archive and the counties’ own electronic archives. Both projects started in May and collectively cover processing data related to approximately 1,300,000 personal identity codes.

The solution is based on Digital Workforce’s robotic process automation and Atostek’s ERA -platform, which together enable smooth data transfer to the Kanta archive. The project is delivered as a SaaS -service through 2M-IT.

“The project has gotten off to a good start and we look forward to the next phases. It’s important to us that the data transfer is seamless and expertly handled without disrupting the normal operations of our organization, and that the project is completed within the agreed timeline,” says Jari Poromaa, Chief Information Officer at Wellbeing Services County of Southwest Finland.

“Our core focus is ensuring that data transfers are completed on schedule and in accordance with best practices. The structure of the source systems does not restrict how we extract data. Our efficient solution can extract, and process data based on how the systems have been used in practice — even if that usage deviates from the original system design”, says Juha Nieminen, Head of Healthcare Nordics at Digital Workforce.

“The feedback we’ve received from 2M-IT’s clients highlights the importance of a professionally conducted Kanta archiving service, and our close collaboration with Digital Workforce has worked extremely well. Data extraction is supported by robotic process automation, which enables a flexible, system-independent implementation. Atostek is responsible for converting the data and transmitting it to the Kanta archive using our ERA -platform, developed specifically for social and healthcare information management”, says Miika Parvio, Business Director of ERA Services at Atostek.
